Civil Wastewater Treatment

Anaerobic Percolator Filter

C Type (Emilia Romagna - Umbria - Friuli Venezia Giulia) - F/R Type (other regions)

made of precast concrete
with polypropylene filling material
CE marking, reference standard UNI EN 12566-3

Features and operating principle

The Anaerobic Percolating Filter is suitable for purifying domestic wastewater with a final discharge different from public sewers, to be installed downstream of primary sedimentation. Inside the tank, there are filling media with a high specific surface area for the formation of a biological film consisting of bacteria that, upon contact with the sewage, reduce pollutants. The incoming sewage, through the distribution pipe, reaches the bottom of the basin and slowly rises upwards through the reticular bacterial biofilm, which metabolizes the dissolved organic substances.
The filling material used as a filtering support is composed of specific black isotactic polypropylene circular bodies with a high specific surface area necessary to house the biological film (approx. 120 m²/m³), and has a void index of approx. 95%. This high void index, resulting from the considerable free passage of the system, has been specifically designed to prevent clogging of the filtering column.
The sizing involves a filtering mass calculated with the formula S=N/H² in the "C" type version and with mc.0,30/0,20/0,15xA.E. in the "F/R" type version.
