Monoblock reinforced concrete manholes for wastewater
An economical and safe solution for the lifting of civil, urban, and industrial discharges
Features and Operating Principle
Precast concrete tanks are used in the construction of lifting stations with their relative valve chambers.
Prefabricated Concrete Lifting Stations for wastewater represent an economical and safe solution for lifting civil, urban, and industrial discharges.
The advantages of Prefabricated Lifting Stations are:
- creation of custom-made solutions with variable heights and thicknesses;
- load-bearing capacity up to classes E600 and F900;
- ease of assembly with a reduction in installation and safety costs.
A Lifting Station for black/grey water is a system that allows for lifting and transferring wastewater to higher elevations. It is necessary when the discharge level is lower than the treatment plant or sewer lines, and/or when the hydraulic profile of the purification system cannot develop by gravity. It consists of a prefabricated storage tank of various sizes (or modular prefabricated traffic-bearing elements) and volumes, inside which one or more submersible electric pumps can be installed; the type of submersible electric pumps to be installed is determined by the type of wastewater, the elevation difference to be overcome (head), and the flow rate that must be guaranteed at the discharge point.
The pump is connected to a suitable electrical panel that allows for manual or automatic start commands via start/stop floats positioned inside the tank.
In dual-pump models, an electrical panel is provided to allow for alternating or simultaneous operation of the two pumps. It can also be equipped with an acoustic-visual alarm, remote control, PLC programmable logic, remote monitoring, remote management, telephone dialer, generator set, backup battery, UPS backup system, and inverter.

Sizing Recommendations
To correctly size the lifting tank, it is necessary to take into account the available Effective Volume (between the inlet level and the pump start/stop levels), the maximum Flow Rate of the electric pump, and the number of Starts per hour of the installed motor.
The volume required to keep the pump body and impeller(s) constantly submerged (minimum level) must be added to the effective volume.
Particular attention should be paid to the choice of electric pumps which, depending on the type of water (sewage or rainwater), will have different types of impellers (single-channel, dual-channel, vortex, grinder, dewatering, or dosing pumps).
Regulations
The regulations for water lifting stations dated February 4, 1977, recommend the following:
- water lifting stations must have a pumping unit suitably sized to remove wastewater even in emergency situations (the emergency overflow must intervene only when there is a power failure);
- water lifting stations and electric pumps must ensure that start/stop times avoid overheating of the pumping unit and, at the same time, prevent the occurrence of septic (anaerobic) water conditions.
Technology
PLANTS WITH PREFABRICATED CONCRETE LIFTING STATIONS FOR PUBLIC ENTITIES, HERA, LAND RECLAMATION CONSORTIA, MUNICIPALITIES, AND PRIVATE CLIENTS.
Prefabricated lifting stations for clean water and lifting stations for sewage. The prefabricated sewage lifting stations by Edil Impianti2, located in Santarcangelo di Romagna (Rimini), are produced with wall and bottom thicknesses that vary according to the lifting height and the specific installation site, which is verified based on the geological report.
Edil Impianti2 manufactures sewage lifting stations with wall thicknesses of 15/18 cm, 20/22 cm, and 25/30 cm, complying with the latest technical standards for construction.
The prefabricated concrete lifting stations are treated internally and externally with waterproofing products suitable for containing sewage or stormwater.
The lifting stations, composed of a base and extensions, are sealed and secured with steel plates as shown in our photos.
Applications
Prefabricated Lifting Stations, Wastewater and Potable Water Booster Sets, Rainwater Recovery Tanks, Drinking Water Cisterns, Irrigation Water Cisterns, Firefighting Water Tanks, Service Rooms and Technical Compartments, Hydraulic Invariance Attenuation Tanks, First Rainwater Systems, Oil Separators, Pressurization Systems.
