Features and operating principle

The Type "C" Trivalent Aerobic Percolator Filter (Imhoff + Type "C" Aerobic Percolator Filter) is a compact system designed to facilitate excavation, installation, and connection works.
The purification process for this type of natural wastewater treatment occurs through the combined action of sewage clarification (primary sedimentation and sludge digestion) taking place in the first stage (Imhoff Tank) and the degradation of organic matter occurring in the second stage (Type "C" Aerobic Percolator Filter) through the action of bacterial colonies that develop as films on suitable supports (polypropylene Filling Materials). The functions and characteristics of the aerobic trickling compartment are the same as those reported for the single treatment in the previous pages. If conditions do not allow for discharge at the treatment outlet level, a specific Lifting Station can be installed within the system itself, including a positioning and control channel; this allows for the wastewater to be lifted to the maximum height while ensuring the correct process logic in all cases.
The sizing of the trickling compartment provides for a filtering mass calculated using the formula S=N/H².

Supply specifications

Supply and installation of "C" Type Trivalent Aerobic Percolator CE marked and compliant with UNI EN 12566-1 and UNI EN 12566-3 standards, manufactured in DECLARED SERIES, code TRAEC____ or TRAEC-MK__ (Miniblock version) for N.____P.E. (Population Equivalent), consisting of: CE marked Imhoff Tank dimensioned with lt.250 per P.E. and Aerobic Percolating Filter type "C" CE marked with low outlet and filtering media (Filling Bodies) calculated according to the formula S=N/H², on request: supply and installation of a single-phase submersible electric pump for high outlet to be installed inside the Aerobic Percolating Filter.
At the outlet of the Aerobic Trivalent, current regulations require a sedimentator (Imhoff Tank type) with a volume equal to half or 1/3 of that provided for as primary treatment.
The Aerobic Percolating Trivalent type "C" CE marked is produced with a UNI EN ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management system, manufactured in monolithic Reinforced Concrete with CE certified materials and recycled content according to the requirements indicated in the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM), concrete in compression resistance class C45/55 (RCK >55 N/mm²), compliant with the requirements of UNI EN 206-1 and UNI 11104 for exposure classes XC4, XS3-XD3, XF1, XA2, internal reinforcement in improved adherence steel, GRIESMIX5® steel fibers (if provided), IDROCONCRETE 1200® integral system crystallizing additive for waterproof concrete (if provided), supplied with Chemical Resistance and Reaction to Fire certifications issued by an external body according to UNI EN standards.
The Aerobic Percolating Trivalent type "C" CE marked is supplied complete with:

  • Imhoff Tank compartment CE marked dimensioned with lt.250 per P.E., complete with: inlet/outlet holes and relative PVC fittings positioned in the sedimentation compartment, vent impression/holes placed laterally to the inlet hole, internal hoppers made of reinforced concrete to ensure the clear separation of the sedimentation/digestion compartments;
  • Aerobic Percolating Filter type "C" compartment CE marked with low outlet and filtering media (Filling Bodies) calculated according to the formula S=N/H², complete with: inlet/outlet holes, PVC inlet fitting and relative PVC distribution channel/channels, PVC collection channel and relative PVC outlet stub, polypropylene Filling Bodies.

SIZING FOR THE CALCULATION OF POPULATION EQUIVALENTS (P.E.)
Sizing of Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks, calculation of POPULATION EQUIVALENT.
In residential buildings as well as in production or service activities, it is necessary to evaluate the actual production of sewage
to be disposed of in order to correctly size the Imhoff tanks. Since this is practically impossible, reference
must be made to the number of Population Equivalents (P.E.), a standardized unit of measurement, which can be determined
as follows:
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- PRIVATE HOUSING - bedroom count:
1 P.E. for bedrooms with a surface area up to 13.90 sqm
2 P.E. for bedrooms with a surface area exceeding 14 sqm
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- HOTELS OR ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES - same as for private housing;
add 1 P.E. for every 6 sqm increase in room surface area beyond 14 sqm;
for holiday homes or special situations where seasonal use allows high occupancy density, it is
appropriate to refer to the maximum actual foreseeable capacity.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- FACTORIES OR CRAFT WORKSHOPS
1 P.E. for every 2 employees, permanent or seasonal, during peak activity.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- COMPANIES, COMMERCIAL OFFICES, SHOPS
1 P.E. for every 3 employees, permanent or seasonal, during peak activity.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- RESTAURANTS AND TRATTORIAS - to calculate the population equivalents, it is necessary to quantify the maximum
seating capacity of the dining rooms, considering that one person occupies approximately 1.20 sqm;
the number of employees is added to the number of customers;
1 P.E. for every 3 people resulting from this sum.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- BARS AND CLUBS - same as the previous point but calculating 1 P.E. for every 7 people.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- CINEMAS, STADIUMS, THEATERS - every thirty users correspond to 1 P.E.
Sizing of concrete Grease Traps and Imhoff Tanks for:
- SCHOOLS AND GYMS - every 10 attendees calculated on the maximum potential capacity corresponds to 1 P.E.

Note.
After calculating the number of Population Equivalents, it is necessary to check with local competent
authorities (A.R.P.A, Province, HERA) to determine the type of system to be installed.
The water supply to be calculated can vary from 100 L to 250 L for each Population Equivalent, based on
local regulations and the type of activity.
